Take R2-D2 For A Ride & Let Him Charge Your Devices

What Star Wars fan hasn’t wanted to have an on-board R2-D2 with them in their vehicle? In the classic movies, R2-D2 was pretty much able to do just about anything that needed to be done. He could unlock doors, communicate with all kinds of computers, fix aircraft mid-flight – heck, he could even launch Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber to him when he needed it the most. He was about the best droid anyone could ask for. While it may be a long while before R2-D2 is able to tune up your vehicles and bypass any security locks, he can definitely keep your phones and tablets charged up and ready to go thanks to this nifty creation from ThinkGeek. They have created an R2-D2 replica that fits in any vehicle’s cup holder; it’s not just some random Star Wars ornament, though.

Your Very Own R2 Unit
I have to admit – as a Star Wars fan, this is definitely something I would proudly use. This small R2-D2 is equipped with 2 2.1 amp USB ports that are more than capable of charging two phones or tablets at the same time. In fact, it can charge pretty much any USB device, whether it’s an mp3 player, ebook reader, or a GPS. Just plug the adapter into the cigarette lighter and R2′s ready to go!
As soon as you plug your device into R2-D2, he will proudly whistle, beep, and spin his head around. He also lights up blue and red depending on the charge status of whatever is plugged into him. If you’d like him to come to life more often, you can simply push the middle button and he will beep, whistle, and spin his head to your heart’s content.

Most people don’t use all of their cup holders at the same time anyway, so it makes perfect sense to take R2-D2 along with you for the ride. Besides, since when have you actually been excited about charging your phone or tablet? This little R2-D2 unit might change all that, especially for all of the Star Wars fans out there.
If you’d like to get this for yourself or for someone else as a Christmas present, you can purchase it on ThinkGeek’s website for $49.99.
