
Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas charged with human trafficking was one of a Saudi princess Meshael Alayban identified as 42-year-old. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
Alayban flagged down a bus carrying a suitcase, a Kenyan woman was arrested after she was a victim of human trafficking that a passenger was told. Alayban passenger and his family were living in contact with the condo to find help police, authorities said.
30-year-old woman was hired in Kenya in 2012 and her passport was taken away on arrival in Saudi Arabia. He paid less than promised and was not allowed to leave, forced to work excessive hours, the officials said.
"This is not a contract dispute," Rackauckas said Wednesday afternoon bail hearing. "It's a prisoner held against their will is."
A judge set bail at $ 5 million for Alayban and to submit to GPS monitoring is needed. They also leave the county without prior permission banned.
Alayban did not appear in court. His attorney, Paul Meyer, a contract dispute case, said he was rich because his client just like a ransom argued bail should not be assigned.
